Opening of Spring Session: Standing with the South Peace

As the Spring session of the Legislative Assembly began, I rose in the House carrying the voices of Peace River South with me.

This session opens at a time when our region is still grieving. The tragedy in Tumbler Ridge has weighed heavily on families across the South Peace, and I felt it was important that our community be acknowledged directly and respectfully in the Legislature.

During the opening proceedings, I offered prayers and reflections for the victims, their families, first responders, educators, and every resident impacted. In moments like these, words feel small. But presence matters. Recognition matters. Ensuring that our region’s pain and resilience are heard at the highest level of provincial government matters.

The South Peace is strong. We are resourceful, resilient, and deeply connected to one another. In difficult times, we do what we have always done. We support our neighbours. We check in on friends. We stand shoulder to shoulder.

As we move into this legislative session, I remain focused on the priorities that matter most to our region: strong public services, support for families, economic stability, and safe communities. I will continue to advocate clearly and consistently for Peace River South, ensuring our concerns are not overlooked in Victoria.

Below are two videos from the opening of Spring session, where I addressed the Legislature on behalf of our region.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out over the past weeks. Your strength, compassion, and resolve continue to inspire me. I am honoured to represent you.
